Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February of 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved from one job to another throughout Corcoran's youth. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
